UNAOC is co-organizing an international seminar entitled “League of Arab States and Alliance of Civilizations: a Message to Media Professionals”. The event will be held in Cairo, Egypt, and co-organized with the League of Arab States, in cooperation with the UNESCO Office in Cairo, the United Nations Information Center (UNIC), Egypt State Information Service, and Egyptian Media Development Program (EMDP).
Participants in the seminar will discuss the vital role played by the media in portraying other cultures and promoting values of tolerance and respect, in the context of the implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) – particularly SDG 16 on promoting peaceful and inclusive societies – and the objectives of the Unified Arab Strategic Plan for Alliance of Civilizations (2016-2019). The seminar will also provide an opportunity for media professionals from various Arab countries to meet their counterparts from other regions for dialogue, consultation, and exchange of ideas and best practices.
