Message by the High Representative for UNAOC
on the International Day of Peace
On this International Day of Peace, we are reminded that conflicts continue to devastate lives across the globe, eroding trust, weakening institutions, and leaving entire generations without hope.
But peace is possible when dialogue replaces violence, when mutual understanding bridges mistrust, and when solidarity triumphs over fear.
Earlier this year, we gathered in Gernika, Spain to launch “A Call for Peace, the End of Wars & Respect for International Law”.
Soon, in October, we will bring this Call for Peace to Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina — carrying forward the message of unity, dignity, and hope.
Today and everyday, I echo this global call to action to put #OneHumanity first. Peace cannot remain a distant aspiration; it must become our common reality.
Peace is built by all of us — governments, communities, faith leaders, young people, and women. Together, we can choose cooperation over conflict, unity over division, and hope over despair.
Let us transform the call for peace into a future of peace for #OneHumanity.
