Press Statement on the Official Visit of the High Representative
for the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations to India

The High Representative for the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) and United Nations Special Envoy to Combat Islamophobia, Mr. Miguel Ángel Moratinos, concluded an official visit to India, during which he held meetings with officials from the Ministry of External Affairs and the Ministry of Minority Affairs, as well as engagements with representatives from a range of faith, community, academic, and policy institutions.
During the visit, the High Representative engaged with representatives of the Sikh, Muslim, Baháʼí, Buddhist, Hindu, Christian, and Parsi communities, including through visits to Gurdwara Bangla Sahib, Jama Masjid, the Baháʼí Temple, the International Buddhist Federation, Akshardham Temple, and the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of India. He also spoke at Jamia Millia Islamia and the Indian Council of World Affairs.
The visit provided an opportunity for exchanging views on good practices in fostering dialogue, interfaith harmony, mutual understanding, and inclusive approaches in diverse societies.
