Press Statement by
the High Representative for the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC)
on the attacks against the Palestinian Christian community in Taybeh in the occupied West Bank
New York – 29 July 2025
The High Representative strongly deplores the continued violence and targeted attacks against the Palestinian Christian community in the village of Taybeh in the occupied West Bank perpetrated by extremist Israeli settlers.
He is particularly alarmed by the most recent attacks on Sunday and Monday, which included the stoning of Christian homes, the torching of three vehicles, and the scrawling of threatening messages on walls—acts clearly intended to intimidate and terrorize the community. He re-iterates that no faith community should live in fear or be targeted because of their faith or belief.
The High Representative also denounces the reported arson which took place nearly two weeks ago near the ruins of the historic archeological site of the Church of St. George in Taybeh. He stresses that religious sites and heritage sites must be protected.
He expresses his full solidarity with the Christian community in Taybeh and calls for the perpetrators of these attacks to be held accountable.
