Music serves to connect young people building solidarity\, and to engage in quality education and develop opportunities to become actors and advocates for peace. SUMMARY:UNAOC Workshop for Young Peacebuilders of the MENA region
DESCRIPTION:Twenty young peacebuilders between 18 and 25 years old from 12 MENA countries will travel to Merida\, Spain\, to attend the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) peace workshop\, organized in partnership with AEXCID. \nFrom 7 to 12 of October 2019\, the participants will analyze conflicts\, practice peace tools to build bridges between cultures and religions\, as well as design a peace project\, which they will implement after the training. \n\nAbout the UNAOC Young Peacebuilders programme \nThe Young Peacebuilders is a peace education initiative that is designed to support young people in gaining skills that can enhance their positive role in issues of peace and security and in preventing violent conflict. It also brings visibility to the initiatives\, actions and projects initiated by young people towards peace and the promotion of diversity and dialogue. UNAOC intends to implement this programme in different regions of the world to grow and strengthen the global movement of young peacebuilders. SUMMARY:UNAOC Fellowship 2019 (MENA Cohort)
DESCRIPTION:MENA Fellows of the UNAOC Fellowship Programme will travel to the United States\, Germany\, and Spain from 13 to 27 October 2019\, while the EUNA cohort traveled to Morocco\, Egypt and Qatar from 26 June to 10 July 2019. During their respective trips\, in addition to addressing issues related to Intercultural Dialogue\, both cohorts will also take part in activities and discussions focusing on a theme: “The role of women in peacemaking and conflict prevention”. This theme has been chosen in line with UNAOC mandate and priorities as well as the UN global agenda. The choice of the theme has also framed the selection process and participants from both groups are all involved professionally in the field of gender\, peacebuilding and conflict prevention.
