SUMMARY:Countering and Preventing Violent Extremism through Communications and Empowerment Strategies Involving Youth
DESCRIPTION:UN-CTED and UNAOC\, on behalf of the CTITF Working Group on Communications chaired by UN DPI\, are co-organizing a side-event at the margins of the United Nations High-Level Conference on Counter-Terrorism. Co-sponsored by the Permanent Missions of Finland and Jordan to the United Nations\, the event is titled “Countering and Preventing Violent Extremism through Communications and Empowerment Strategies Involving Youth”. It is scheduled to take place on 28 June 2018 from 13h15 – 14h45 in Conference Room 9\, United Nations Secretariat Building. \nThe side-event will provide an opportunity to share experiences and good practices by Member States\, United Nations entities\, media experts and civil-society organizations in communicating with youth and youth-based organizations\, in both on-line and off-line spaces\, with a view to countering and preventing violent extremism through communications and empowerment strategies involving youth.
