As part of the 18th session of the Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues from 22 April to 3 May 2019, the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) will participate in a side event entitled “Rights to Indigenous Communications: Honoring our cultures, languages and traditions through digital storytelling” and organized by Wapikoni mobile, the Coordinadora Latinoamericana de Cine y Comunicación de los Pueblos Indígenas (CLACPI), Isuma TV, and Cultural Survival. The side event will highlight the different issues that Indigenous filmmakers and communicators face in various countries in Latin America as well as in Canada and present the impacts of media initiatives. It will showcase Indigenous short films.
