All integration practitioners listed here constitute what we call the IBIS integration community.
Integration practitioners cannot work alone. To be effective, a “whole of society” approach is needed through multi-stakeholder partnerships which are complementary, create synergies and allow for coordination at all levels. Partnerships between and among stakeholders at the local, national and international levels are crucial for the development of effective integration policies and practices.
Integration practitioners from national and local governments, from international or regional organizations, from civil society, from academic institutions or from the private sector all have an important role to play in the integration of newcomers and the building of inclusive societies.
Governments have a central role in facilitating and supporting the development and implementation of many of these partnerships. Partnerships with the private sector can benefit from the direct interaction of employers with migrants in the workplace. Partnerships with civil society can be a means to tap into their institutional knowledge of integration issues on the ground.
You can inspire other stakeholders – and we hope that you may learn by reading about and exchanging with other practitioners.
