Practitioner’s aims, programs of activities and fields of expertise:

The association has established a European wide network, a forum for investigating the fundamental human concerns and issues within Europe (alienation, exclusion, social divisiveness especially within urban neighbourhoods. As regards these issues, Arts has a vital role to perform. Acting as a european exchange platform, the network meetings enable Culture, Town Policies, Social Work, Town development and research professionals to meet together and to reflect in depth on the problems linked to their practices. Amongst the themes discussed are: Culture and Conflicts/ Nomad communities, Cultures in Movement/ Cultural diversity in action. We also organized European seminars, “Monday Rendez-vous” on themes such as: Urban renewal, memories and immigration, Media and Diversity. Banlieues d’Europe participates in different research projects and is also sollicited for expertise providing an interface with university research.

Banlieues d’Europe has been collecting information and documents for the last twenty years This documentary base, rich and specific, was inaugurated on Monday 25 May 2009. We publish an electronic newsletter twice a month, packed with information on the network projects, cultural news in Europe, numerous calls for partners, pet projects.
