ENGAGING MEDIA

The UN Alliance of Civilizations’ media program is based on two pillars:
1. GlobalExpertFinder.org, an online resource which connects journalists with a wide range of opinion leaders who provide quick reactions and analysis on complex political, social and religious issues;
2. A broad array of training programs designed to support journalists and opinion makers in their effort to report across cultural divides in a fast-changing global media environment. www.globalexpertfinder.org

“Global Expert Finder is an invaluable tool connecting experts with journalists worldwide, thereby helping to broaden the global conversation on complex and polarizing issues.” Richard Barrett, Al Qaeda Monitoring Team at the United Nations

“GEF fills an important gap for journalists providing high caliber experts on hot topics” Riz Khan, Al Jazeera English

“Being the only Israeli and Jewish journalist at an AoC training was a daunting yet thrilling experience. The challenge of working together with a journalist from another place not only pushed me to see the other side of the story but it also forced me to question my own convictions for the sake of finding a common ground.” -- Ruth Eglash, Jerusalem Post

Global Expert Finder (GEF) is a free online resource of experts and opinion leaders who provide quick reactions and accurate analysis to journalists worldwide on political, religious and cultural issues.

GEF supports the work of journalists, editors and producers, particularly but not exclusively, in times of cross-cultural crises. Through the support of a dedicated team, it enables experienced commentators to give immediate interviews, provide quotes, and share their views tomedia professionals when an event breaks out, to help create greater understanding of potentially polarizing issues.

GEF also provides free access to articles, podcasts and video interviews by experts on current affairs, including politics, terrorism, human rights, women’s rights, globalization, religion and culture.

GEF encourages a broad diversity of experts and opinion leaders to share their perspectives on issues that go to the core of relations among diverse communities, broadening the choice of comments and introducing a “third voice” in divisive debates.

GEF is supported by a network of partners, including the European Commission, the Anna Lindh Foundation, the International Center for Journalists, Search for Common Ground.
