On the occasion of the International Youth Day, the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations is calling on youth from all over the world to submit logos and vote on possible taglines for the upcoming AoC Youth Website!
Background
We are currently putting the final touches on a new website completely dedicated to youth seeking to advance cross-cultural understanding.
This website will include information on:
• youth-led and youth-serving organizations involved in cross-cultural understanding;
• opportunities available to youth interested in AoC-related issues (e.g. training, conferences, exchange programs, etc.); and
• tools developed by or for youth wanting to learn more about cultural and religious diversity.
This website will also feature information about the AoC’s Youth Program, the Youth Advisory Committee, the Global Youth Movement for the AoC, an on-line discussion forum, quotes from youth, news, and various other sections.
While the AoC has developed the basic structure for this website, it will be up to youth organizations around the world to populate it with information, share thoughts on the discussion forum, draft quotes and news, etc.
The AoC Youth Website will be launched around the International Day of Peace on 21 September 2009. Another message will be sent to AoC’s youth partners with directions for submitting content to the Youth Website.
The Contest
Youth from all over the world are invited to vote on taglines and develop logos for this Youth Website.
The options for taglines are as follows:
Option 1: Youth Action for Cross-Cultural Understanding
Option 2: Youth Taking Action for Understanding
Option 3: Amplifying the Voice of Youth for Understanding
Option 4: Youth Action for Inclusive Societies
Option 5: Recognizing Youth Action Across Borders
Option 6: Connecting Youth Action Across Borders
In addition, youth can develop logos that illustrate the overall ideas behind the taglines mentioned above. Logos submitted will be reviewed and the winning submission will be twinned with the tagline that received the most votes.
Submitting Your Vote and Logo Design
Below are the instructions for submitting your vote for a tagline:

• The AoC will only accept one vote per person.
Below are the instructions for submitting your logo design:
• Logo designs should be sent as a .jpg or .gif file. As an alternative, you can scan your drawing of the logo and forward the digital file.
• Files sent to the AoC should not be over 72dpi and not exceed 600 pixels in any direction.
• File name should appear with your first name followed by your last name (example: FirstnameLastname.jpg).

• The AoC reserves the right to slightly modify the winning logo.
Note that youth can choose to only vote, only submit a logo design or do both.
The deadline for submitting your vote and/or logo is 28 September 2009, 5PM, EST. Since the Youth Website will be launched around 21 September 2009, applicants will have the possibility to see the live website for one week before submitting their vote or logo design.
Announcement
The selected tagline as well as the name of the winning logo’s author will be announced on the main AoC website as well as on the Youth Website by mid-October 2009. A permanent mention of the winner’s name will remain on the Youth Website after this official announcement.
